Adorable pictures of Rafael Nadal and his son emerge trip to..

Rafael Nadal’s visit to Australia was a lot shorter than he would have liked, but he still managed to enjoy some special moments with his wife and baby son during his stay in Brisbane.

After missing nearly the entire 2023 season due to a hip injury that required surgery, Nadal made his long-awaited comeback at the Brisbane International at the beginning of the year.

The 22-time Grand Slam winner was accompanied by his wife Mery “Xisxa” Perello and one-year-old baby Nadal on the trip Down Under.

Although Nadal and Perello have not publicly shared their son’s name, it has been reported that he has been christened Rafael Nadal Perello.

The tennis great was seen spending quality with his family in Brisbane and pictures of the outing has only recently emerged on social media.

In a couple of the photos Rafael Junior, who was born in October 2022, can be seen playing with a white mini tennis racket.

Little Rafa has not accompanied his father to too many tournaments and former world No 1 Nadal admitted last year that it takes some adapting to travelling with a child.

“We have some help. No problem at all. Just I need to organise a little bit my life, as everybody needs to do when you have a child in your life,” he said.

Nadal, meanwhile, won his matches against Dominic Thiem and Jason Koubler at the Brisbane event before he was knocked out by Jordan Thompson in the third round.

Nadal’s stay in Australia came to an abrupt end after the tournament as he picked up another injury during his defeat to Thompson as he revealed he suffered “a micro tear on a muscle”.

The injury forced him to withdraw from next week’s Australian Open as he admitted: “Right now I am not ready to compete at the maximum level in five sets matches. I’m flying back to Spain to see my doctor, get some treatment and rest.”

He added: “I have worked very hard during the year for this comeback and as I always mentioned my goal is to be at my best level in three months.”

The Spaniard, who confirmed last year that the 2024 tennis season will likely be his final one as a professional, is yet to reveal his expected return date.
