Alex Albon’s $2 Million Damage to Williams Nears Mick Schumacher’s Record for Haas

One of the most promising Red Bull drivers when he started his career, Alex Albon, is now in Williams. The team showed a lot of confidence in the driver while renewing his contract, but so far, he has 0 points on the table. The once-dominant team is now struggling to get a single point in the constructor’s championship.

To make things more difficult, Alex Albon has already had two crashes, which is only damaging the team further. The crashes have been expensive for the team, but they are still under the record-breaking damages caused by Mick Schumacher during his time with Haas. So just exactly how much did Albon’s crashes cost?

The last two races have not been so great for the Thai driver, as he has had two DNFs in a row. Having zero points in 4 races is devastating, but what’s worse is when the car has been wrecked twice. A recent report stated that the total cost borne by Williams to fix the FW46 chassis is over $2 million.

The cost to the team is alarmingly high, and with the performance he has been putting out, it might not seem like it will be worth it to the team. Mick Schumacher is known to have cost Haas around $5 million in damages, which did hurt a small-budget team, which further led to former team principal Guenther Steiner discontinuing the driver in 2023, but that’s not an option for Williams. There are still 20 races left, which is a long way to go, and there are many chances of accidents; hopefully, the driver avoids them.
