Alpine team principal Bruno Famin has lauded Mick Schumacher, the team’s World Endurance Championship driver, as speculation mounts about a potential F1 seat for 2025.
The dynamic F1 driver market has increased Haas’s appeal, especially after achieving four points finishes in the first seven grands prix of 2024.
With Nico Hulkenberg set to join Sauber/Audi next year and Kevin Magnussen’s future uncertain due to a tough season start, Haas is exploring new driver options.
Magnussen has scored only one point, while Hulkenberg has managed six, consistently reaching Q3, unlike his teammate.
Meanwhile, Alpine’s Esteban Ocon is reportedly at the top of Haas’s shortlist, and Pierre Gasly is also attracting interest from other teams.
This situation keeps Alpine vigilant about their driver lineup, particularly given their challenging start to 2024, securing only one point so far.
Mick Schumacher, a former Haas driver now competing in the WEC’s Hypercar class for Alpine, is a potential candidate for Alpine’s F1 seat.
Despite not breaking into the top 10 after three races, Schumacher has impressed Famin with his performance and mindset.
The Alpine principal stated he was “really impressed” with Schumacher’s experience and attitude.
Schumacher’s strong showings in sportscar racing could make him a viable option for Alpine, as they navigate the evolving driver market.

“Mick is making an incredible job in endurance,” Famin said. “What is very impressive is his mindset.
“Of course he’s fast, but I think everybody knows he’s fast. In endurance it’s not always useful to do a very good lap time because you have the BOP on top and you have to be a bit careful with the performance.
“But the matter there is not to evaluate the pure performance of the driver, but where Mick has been really incredible in his adaptation to the endurance mindset.
âWe used to say that single-seater drivers are selfish. Mick, from the very first minute, has been very open, very cooperative, really helpful for his team-mates, ready to learn everything – especially from endurance – and a super mindset, super team spirit.â
