Andy Murray reveals what makes Novak Djokovic an absolute nightmare

British tennis legend Andy Murray has explained why his old rival and world No.1 Novak Djokovic is an absolute nightmare for opposition players.

Djokovic won three of the four Grand Slam titles last year, taking his major trophy tally to 24 to go level with Margaret Court for the most in history.

The Serbian is still very much dominant despite reaching the age of 36 – with a runner-up finish in Australia last month at the first major tournament of 2024.

The same cannot be said for former world No.1 Murray, who has been on a horrific run on the ATP Tour, losing nine of his last 10 matches

Djokovic, meanwhile, is only two trophies away from 100 titles, which will see him become only the third player to do so after Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer.

Asked to explain what makes facing Djokovic in a final so hard, Murray said: ‘Obviously [it is] unbelievably tough.

‘When he’s won 24 majors and 98 titles, it’s not easy when you have limited experience in those situations and, you know, you’re standing across the net from a guy who’s won as much as he has. That’s really difficult.

‘For the younger guys now, when it’s Novak on the other side of the net, [it is] really, really difficult for them to win against him, not just from the tennis side where he’s obviously exceptional.
