The 24-time major champion has now accumulated 5,200 points since mid-June, when the Olympics race started accruing points. Djokovic currently sits 920 points ahead of second-placed Alcaraz, with the Serbian hoping to have one final shot at Olympic gold next year, the one accolade that has eluded him throughout his distinguished career.
With the status of Rafael Nadal in doubt for the 2023 Paris Olympics, Alcaraz could be Spain’s biggest hope to clinch a medal at the tennis event. The 20-year old will be competing at his maiden Olympic Games, with the tennis competition slated to run from July 27-August 4, 2024 on the hallowed grounds of Roland Garros.
