Former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has two wins to his name this year but he could face a stern test in 2024 after he hinted that he could fight Deontay Wilder. He also went on to suggest that the fight could form part of an ambitious double bill, also featuring heavyweight champions Tyson Fury and Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed clash.

Anthony Joshua has suggested that there could be a double bill next year that sees Tyson Fury face Oleksandr Usyk, while he takes on Deontay Wilder on the same card.

Wilder and Joshua have long been linked with a clash as the heavyweight pair look to earn another title shot.

Joshua lost his three belts to Usyk and then failed to claim them back in a rematch, but has won both of his last two fights as he mounts a comeback.

The Briton had hoped to fight Wilder before the end of the year but has suggested it could be 2024 before that clash takes place.

Wilder, meanwhile, lost his WBC heavyweight strap to Tyson Fury and played out a famous trilogy against Fury, and with all four belts shared by Fury and Usyk, there is a chance to crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era.

“They want to put Usyk-Fury, Joshua-Wilder on the same night. That might not happen until April,” Joshua told BBC Sport.

Fury’s next fight is a bout with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, who is making his boxing debut in a fight without a belt on the line – with that clash live on TNT Sports Box Office.

“When Fury gets though Ngannou, it is going to be late October, early November, so I doubt he will now prepare for Usyk and fight in December, it’s too short,” added Joshua.

“So the next window will probably be in March-April, so that’s probably when the undisputed fight will potentially happen.

“Then obviously what we are being told is they want to make it a mega card and they like the sound of Joshua v Wilder on the same card as well.”
