Aston Martin Head Andy Cowell Backs Team Drivers Fernando Alonso And Lance Stroll

With the Australian Grand Prix just around the corner, all the Formula 1 teams are gearing up for the first race on March 14 at Melbourne. The F1-75 launch event saw new faces alongside old drivers who are about to represent their respective teams behind the wheel, but the British luxury sports car manufacturer Aston Martin decided to go ahead with their older drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.

Recently, Aston Martin boss Andy Cowell spoke about their approach to the upcoming Australian Grand Prix and even mentioned that the pressure should be on the overall team, not only on their drivers.

During the F1-75 Live event in London, the Aston Martin team principal Andy Cowell spoke about his drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll. The British engineer turned F1 team head Cowell squashed out the rumors around the inclusion of Red Bull Racing star Max Verstappen for the upcoming season. He said-

The key work for this team is to create a fast race car, and we didn’t create that for them last year, and they get a lot of media pressure because of that. The pressure should come in our direction—we’ve got the job to create a fast race car for them, and I’m absolutely certain that they’re both going to deliver.”

While talking about the underperformance of Aston Martin back in 2024, Andy Cowell spoke positively about the improvements in the machinery as well as the outfit. He said-

I think we’ve got a reasonable understanding of last year’s car, and what we’ve worked on through the winter is to try and create a car that is more stable through corners and more predictable to drive through the race, and we feel that that will reward us well with regards to race performance.”

Andy Cowell replaced Mike Krack in 2025 as the Aston Martin team principal, and with a mindset of a team player, he has always stood by his drivers. With a recent statement on how the pressure should be divided equally on the team instead of diverting it on the drivers, Cowell clearly proves that he is one of the coolest bosses in the Formula 1 fraternity. Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll would be representing Aston Martin for the third year together.
