Chase Elliott goes into New Hampshire riding momentum with

Chase Elliott is the new points leader in the NASCAR Cup Series. After Kyle Larson wrecked at Iowa Speedway, Elliott holds an eight-point advantage over Larson heading into Loudon, New Hampshire. However, does the past support a weekend where Elliott can have more success in Loudon? It depends on which version of the No. 9 team shows up at New Hampshire.

In 2023, Elliott finished 12th place with no stage points. It was a disappointing run after a second-place finish at New Hampshire in 2022. Over the last six races, the 2020 Cup Series champion has alternated between top-10 and top-20 finishes. If this pattern continued, Elliott would be projected for a top-10 finish in 2024.

Hendrick Motorsports hasn’t been great at New Hampshire, with its last win coming with Kasey Kahne in 2012. In fact, between 2012 and 2024, a Chevrolet driver has only won at Loudon once with Kevin Harvick. This may not sound great for Elliott, but Larson is in the same boat. Elliott is riding the momentum with the points lead, and it could continue this weekend.
