Chase Elliott guarantees homerun in experience at NASCAR track hosting MLB

NASCAR driver Chase Elliott recently shed light on Major League Baseball’s decision to schedule a game at the Bristol Motor Speedway. The “MLB Speedway Classic”, a regular-season baseball game between the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds, will be held at the short oval track on 2nd August 2025.

At 28 years old, Chase Elliott competes full-time in the Cup Series, driving the #9 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports. Over a decade-long career, he has secured 19 Cup race wins and clinched the Cup Series championship in 2020. In addition to his Cup success, Elliott was crowned the Xfinity Series champion in 2014 and earned the title of Cup Series regular-season champion in 2022.Elliott, a huge Braves fan, had the opportunity to drive around the short oval with Atalanta Braves legend Chipper Jones Jr. on Friday, to commemorate the event.

Fox Sports journalist Bob Pockrass interviewed the pair at Bristol, where Chase Elliott expressed his approval of the decision that has brought the two sports together. Elliott said (via Fox Sports):
“I’m a Braves fan like everybody else, just to have a small part in this and be able to help promote it is a really cool honor for me for just growing up around watching them.”

“This is one of the best facilities we come to on a yearly basis. I think everybody in the industry would tell you the same thing. It’ll suit the needs for everybody involved, from the MLB to the Braves to the Reds very well. It’ll be a good event,” he added
Here’s a video posted by Pockrass on X, where he explains the layout for the MLB game.

Chase Elliott sheds light on potential changes at Bristol for accommodating MLB game
Since the announcement, fans have expressed their curiosity about the changes that might be needed at the Bristol Motor Speedway, to make it match-ready for the match between the Reds and the Braves next year.
Bob Pockrass inquired about the possible changes in an interview with Chase Elliott and Chipper Jones Jr., to which Elliott responded:
“I mean, I think it’s really more of a Chipper question than me considering I don’t play baseball. But I will say, you know, and he brought it up and was saying there, he’s like, man, that doesn’t look like 330, you know, it’s pretty short, too.”
