Chase Elliott is an undeniable fan favorite. Having won six NMPA Most Popular Driver of the Year awards in a row, this feat underlines his popularity in the NASCAR fanbase. However, as they say, “You can not please everyone.” One of the instances of him realizing the same has happened with Hendrick Motorsports‘ social media initiative, ‘Mad Libs.’
The video began with Chase Elliott being put in the spotlight as the presenter asked him about his preferences regarding his favorite food, race track, and more. However, throughout the video, Elliott seemed distracted and uninterested in the questionnaire as he answered it gradually. The fandom has taken jibes at Elliott for the same, and some even claimed that Alex Bowman would have been a better fit for the video.
Being a single-phrasal game, Mad Libs requires a person to prompt another with words related to the question. The second player has to attempt to answer the given words. Given the nature of this game, it is only natural for a person to seem disinterested, considering the lack of conversation in it.
Hendrick Motorsports has taken up this initiative to create a light moment with its drivers and connect better with the fans. Alex Bowman and Kyle Larson have also taken their turns previously, with Chase Elliott repeating it this time. Elliott begins answering the phrases given to him, which include his food of choice, preferred race tracks, and favorite previous driver, among many more questions
However, this edition of Mad Libs has yet to go down well with the fans. One of the reasons for that might be Chase Elliott’s demeanor, which seemed rather dull and unconvinced, with a deep tone.
The comment section of the Twitter post was filled with fans denouncing Chase’s behavior. Many of the fans’ complaints stem from expectations of a more interactive Mad Libs session where Chase Elliott is smiling or being funny, probably sharing jokes. A fan commented that Hendrick Motorsports tried its best to provide some light-hearted content, but Chase wasn’t having any part of it.
He wrote, “Well, I appreciate the effort the social team gave on trying to give fans more content with the drivers. Too bad Chase looked like he wanted no part of this video.”
Another fan lamented the lack of excitement in the video, stating, “Please add some salt or spice next time; this is rather bland.” Even the six-time Most Popular Driver can have bad days in the fanbase.
