his post about the death of his former girlfriend, Sherry Pollex, who passed
away at the age of 44 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Truex had posted
on Instagram about Pollex’s death and offered his condolences to her family,
calling her “an inspiration” because of her tireless charity work.
However, Patrick took issue with Truex’s post, calling it “the most
insensitive disconnected statement” and accusing him of being cold and
insincere. She also suggested that a PR rep had written the post for him.
Patrick’s comments did not sit well with many fans on social media, with some
calling her “classless and disgusting” and others saying that she was making
Pollex’s passing about her personal feelings towards Truex. One person even
went so far as to say that Patrick is “just straight up a bad person.”
It is not clear why Patrick has such a negative opinion of Truex, as their
NASCAR careers overlapped from 2010-17. However, what is clear is that Pollex
was a beloved figure in the NASCAR community, known for her philanthropy and
charity work.

Pollex was loved for her charity work
Pollex helped establish the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation in 2007 and launched
Catwalk for a Cause in 2010, a fashion gala which raises money for children’s
cancer.
Pollex’s passing is a tragic loss for the NASCAR community, and it is
unfortunate that Patrick chose to use the occasion to air her grievances with
Truex. As one Twitter user put it, “Talk about insensitive and disconnected…”
In times of grief, it is important to put aside personal differences and come
together to support those who are hurting. Hopefully, Patrick will learn from
this experience and choose her words more carefully in the future.
