If you go on to ask any aspiring or even current NASCAR Cup Series drivers, what would be their ultimate goal in their professional career? The most common answer one might get is a championship win. Well, for someone like Kyle Larson who has already reached this achievement, he still aspires to win more and it’s not just on NASCAR circuits. The 2021 Cup Series win is indeed one of the crowning jewels so far in Larson’s career but he believes there’s still a lot he needs to accomplish.
It is a known fact that a Daytona 500 win is one that every driver dreams to achieve someday and that is the case for Larson as well. However, it’s no secret that the former Chili Bowl Nationals champ has dirt racing in his heart and he has not shied away from expressing his desire to be involved in dirt races. Differentiating between NASCAR marquee events to other major races, Larson opined that the Indy 500 and the 24-hour Le Mans are one of the few peaks he would like to conquer in his career.
Hendrick Motorsport’s No.5 is not any ordinary NASCAR driver but a generational talent. At the age of 31, so far Kyle Larson has won the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series, the 2010 King of the West Sprint Car Series, the 2015 Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2019, 2021, and 2023 along with a NASCAR All-star Race win multiple times. This is just a fraction of what he has conquered and the list is pretty long.
However, while speaking with former American race car driver Kenny Wallace, Larson opened up about events he would love to conquer. “Indy 500 is obviously an easy one to talk about. I would love to win that but I’m just really happy to be able to race. But then I’ve been lucky enough to accomplish a lot on the dirt side of things. I think I ran the National Open once at Willaim Grove, I would love to win the Tuscarora 50 I’ve only got to run that a couple of times. The Jackson Nationals in the late model side, I would love to be able to accomplish someday.”

“Basically the conversation was going great and he said how he miss seeing me race in NASCAR, loves my style and would really love to have me on his team. At the end of it, he was like is there anything you want and I was really nervous. I was like, I would really love to keep racing this dirt stuff. I was expecting him to laugh at me or kind of get upset but thankfully he was all good with it.”
