Emma Raducanu is looking to work her way back up the WTA Rankings, but which tournaments are set to feature on her 2024 tennis calendar?
Following an injury-disrupted 2023 campaign, Raducanu made her long-awaited return to the game at the beginning of this year as she competed at the ASB Classic in Auckland and the Australian Open winning one match at both tournaments before exiting in the second round.
She next made an appearance at the Abu Dhabi Open and she again won her first-round match before going down in the second round.
Raducanu will need to rely on wildcards to enter some of the big events in the coming months as her protected ranking of 103 is not good enough for direct entry while she is still outside the top 200 in the official rankings.
However, remains a big crowd-puller and tournament directors won’t hesitate to offer her a spot in the main draw.
But what about her schedule for the upcoming months?
Emma Raducanu’s possible 2024 tennis calendar
Qatar Open – February 12-18
Following her exit from the Abu Dhabi Open, Raducanu hinted that she will next play at the WTA 1000 Qatar Open, stating “Hopefully playing Doha. Then I go back and train and go to the States hopefully as well.”
She will need a wildcard from the organisers as she wasn’t on the official entry list, but that is unlikely to be a problem.
Indian Wells Open – March 6-17
The Sunshine Double featuring Indian Wells Open and Miami Open is quite high on the list of priorities for top players and Raducanu will hope to compete at both events, but she will most likely require a wildcard.
She enjoyed her best run at a WTA 1000 event at Indian Wells last year as she reached the fourth round before losing to Iga Swiatek.
Miami Open – March 18-31
Raducanu made a first-round exit from the Florida WTA 1000 event last year and she will no doubt hope to get a win or two under her belt if she features as it will give her ranking a big boost.
However, she could also skip the event and start her clay-court preparations early.

Porsche Tennis Grand Prix – April 15-21
Emma Raducanu is a Porsche brand ambassador and will be in the main draw, whether through her ranking or a wildcard.
The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart was her final event of the 2023 season before she underwent surgery. Last year she lost in the first round while in 2022 she made the quarter-final.
Madrid Open – April 23-May 4
The 2021 US Open winner enjoyed a run to the third round of Madrid Open during her debut in 2022 while she missed the 2023 tournament after opting for surgery on both her wrists and one ankle.
Italian Open – May 7-18
Raducanu’s only visit Foro Italico came in 2022 when she retired from her first-round clash against Bianca Andreescu.
Her appearance will be dependent on her ranking or a wildcard.
Roland Garros – May 27-June 9
Roland Garros could be one of the eight tournaments where Raducanu uses her protected ranking, which is 103, to enter, but she will need some withdrawals in order to make it into the main draw.
She reached the second round of the French Open during her only appearance in Paris in 2022.
Nottingham Open – June 10-16
Emma Raducanu made her WTA Tour debut at the 2021 Nottingham Open as she was handed a wildcard, losing in the first round against fellow Brit Harriet Dart.
She returned in 2022, this time she was seeded second after entering as the world No 12, but she retired from her first-round match.
There is no doubt she will return to Nottingham in 2024 if she is fit.
Birmingham Classic – July 17-23
Raducanu was due to make her debut at the Birmingham Classic in 2022, but withdrew due to a side injury.
The tournament director will have no problem giving her a wildcard if her ranking doesn’t afford her an automatic entry by then.
Wimbledon – July 1-14
Wimbledon 2021 was where it all started for Raducanu as she made her first major appearance as a wildcard, reaching the fourth round.
In 2022 she lost in the second round while this was one of several tournaments she missed last year.
Raducanu will likely be the face of Wimbledon 2024.
Paris Olympics – July 27-August 4
Given her injury woes and lack of Billie Jean King Cup appearances over the past few years, it is highly doubtful that Raducanu will represent Great Britain at the Olympics, but very few players will turn down the chance to play at an Olympics if an opportunity presents itself.
Post 2024 Paris Olympics
Raducanu’s schedule for the second half of the 2024 season will depend her on performances during the first half of the season and whether or not she has moved back into the top 100 of the WTA Rankings.
If she remains lowly ranked then she could opt to play several WTA 250 events or event drop down a level and play ITF tournaments.
However, there are a couple of big events where she could feature.
Canadian Open – August 6-11
The British star’s only appearance at the WTA 1000 tournament in Canada came back in 2022 when she fell in the first round, but this is a key tournament in the build-up to the US Open.
Cincinnati Open – August 12-18
Raducanu didn’t play at the 2021 Cincinnati Open en route to her historic US Open title win a few weeks later.
Instead, she made her debut the following year, beating tennis great Serena Williams 6-4, 6-0 in the opener and then following it up with a 6-0, 6-2 win over two-time Grand Slam winner Victoria Azarenka in the second round before losing to Jessica Pegula.
US Open – August 26-September 8
Former US Open winner Raducanu would hope to be back in the top 100 by the time the 2024 US Open arrives, but even if she is not the tournament organisers would jump at the chance to give her a wildcard.
