Evander Holyfield Has No Doubt Who Would Win A Mike Tyson-Anthony Joshua Fight

The Real Deal’ Holyfield was quick to back a winner in a fantasy fight between former for Mike Tyson and current star Anthony Joshua.

Evander Holyfield’s controversial rivalry with Tyson ended in disqualification for the latter. The pair still shared 14 rounds together, so are well-versed in the skillsets and shortcomings of each.

Despite having the beating of him, Holyfield backed Tyson without doubt against ‘AJ’ whilst playing a game of ‘Winner Stays On’ with Mail Sport.

In fact, Holyfield also picked his old rival against Deontay Wilder, Wladimir Klitschko and Tyson Fury. He stopped short of backing Tyson to beat current undisputed champion, Oleksandr Usyk, saying he couldn’t pick a winner.

Tyson and Joshua both rose through the ranks knocking opponents out, often in double quick time. They each had a significant reign as world champion before being stopped by huge underdogs.

Both won the titles back only to be defeated again, twice in each case, by an elite cruiserweight turned heavyweight – Holyfield for ‘Iron’ Mike and Oleksandr Usyk for ‘AJ.’

There is plenty though that cannot be compared. Tyson was a squat 5 ft 10 in to Joshua’s 6 ft 6 in. Many feel the Brit struggles with smaller fighters, and would point to the Andy Ruiz Jr upset and the Usyk double header as examples.

One thing is for sure, had the two heavyweight faced off prime versus prime, not many would be backing it to go long.

Joshua will return to the ring in September, potentially against IBF Interim Champion Daniel Dubois, and Tyson has recently had his controversial bout with Jake Paul postponed.
