Fans given Curry postseason injury update

The Warriors coach spoke about the thumb injury to Steph Curry ahead of the postseason push.

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr gave an update on the injury status of Steph Curry, their star player who suffered a thumb injury in a recent game.

The 37-year-old point guard admitted in the aftermath of the win over the Portland Trail Blazers that he felt what he called “an aggravation” of an already existing thumb issue that has plagued him in the past.

“I just know it hurts right now, but I’ll be all right” he said after returning to the court with a bandaged hand. “Because it was freshly ringing, new pain. But I don’t think it’ll last too long.”

Ahead of the final game of the season, the Warriors needed a win to avoid the lottery of the play-in round, something they failed to do, losing 124-119 to the Los Angeles Clippers at Chase Center on Sunday; it was their third consecutive home loss, matching their longest home-losing streak of the season.

Curry was able to play in that game and played well, getting more than 30 points alongside Jimmy Butler. However, an overtime slip-up from the Warriorssaw them fall away at the final hurdle, despite a perfect final quarter from Curry that saw him get 18 points in the frame on a perfect 5-for-5 from the field.

Ahead of the game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Golden State Warriors were pleased to see that Steph Curry wascompletely left off the official NBA injury list, meaning that he is of no concern to the medical and coaching staff as regards his fitness and that niggling thumb problem. It’s just as well, as the Warriors will need all they have got against the Memphis outfit looking to cause an upset on Tuesday.
