Fernando Alonso details Max Verstappen’s ‘craziness’, claims to see ‘a lot of similarities’ between

Fernando Alonso believes that him and Max Verstappen are similar in the fact that they both are in love with the sport and are there for the sport itself rather than the show. Alonso currently drives for Aston Martin, while Verstappen drives for Red Bull and is the benchmark for the entire grid.

According to him, Verstappen and Sergio Pérez are the best drivers on the current grid as they can fight hard with others without any contact. Alonso and Verstappen are some of the freaks of the sport as when they are not in their cars, they are in other types of formats of the sport or sim racing.

[Max] Verstappen was maybe a bit crazier in his early days and had some incidents and some problems, but now he is a very decent driver on the track. Off the track, I see a lot of similarities between him and me. We have the same interests, we love racing. We like the sport more than the show. Fernando Alonso said this in a Spanish documentary, as reported by Gpblog.com

Alonso is the most experienced driver in F1, amassing a total of 377 race starts. He has had a good relationship with the Dutchman on and off the track and is often noticed praising him for his driving ability and finding lap time out of thin air. Both the legends of the sport are on the top of their games and are making strides in F1 record books.

Both Verstappen and Alonso have gained a reputation for being the villains in F1. The Spaniard was the only driver capable of beating the combination of Michael Schumacher and Ferrari and bringing down the reign of their dominance. He even had multiple more title scraps with other drivers but was unable to increase his tally of Championships.

On the other hand, Verstappen brought down the era of dominance of Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton in 2021 after a season-long back and forth. Since then, Verstappen has been unbeatable and has won three successive titles.

Now both the drivers have aimed their sights on the 2024 season, and are aiming for even above. Verstappen prepares for another season of dominance, while Alonso aims for his 33rd career win.
