Ferrari preparations for Lewis Hamilton arrival in full swing as big announcement teased

Ferrari are set to announce a new technical director to lead the team’s car development efforts during a new era with Lewis Hamilton behind the wheel.

Enrico Cardile, who previously held the role, has departed in July having been poached by Aston Martin. He has been given a newly-created role of chief technical officer by the Silverstone team and will officially begin work in 2025 after a period of leave.

Ferrari are on a high after Charles Leclerc won the team’s home race to send the Tifosi in the grandstands ballistic. And it seems, at some point between now and the next race in Azerbaijan later this month, the Italians will share more good news.

Leclerc will be joined by Hamilton next year and there have already been other arrivals announced. And a couple of them, like the seven-time F1 champion, are also going to be joining from Mercedes.

That includes Loic Serra who is going to join Ferrari as head of chassis performance later this year. Also making the move is Jerome D’Ambrosio, the Silver Arrows’ former driver development director who decided to move back to Europe, it is understood, because his family struggled to settle in the UK.

That familiarity will be helpful to Hamilton when he begins work at a team with a vastly different culture that what he is used to. He also has a part relationship with Vasseur and Ferrari academy chief Jock Clear was at Mercedes a decade ago.
