Grizzlies Hit with Tough Ja Morant Update Ahead of Clash with Clippers

After a 2023-24 season full of injuries, Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies have returned to prime form in 2024-25. The trio of Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane has led the Grizzlies to a 36-17 record, good for second place in the Western Conference.

On Wednesday, they will aim for their 12th win in the last 14 games as they face James Harden and the Los Angeles Clippers, the Grizzlies’ final game before the All-Star break.

Morant had missed some time throughout this season with numerous injuries and ahead of the Clippers game, the former Murray State star found himself on the injury report once again.

Following the 119-112 win over Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, a game where Morant put up 26 points, the Grizzlies had listed Morant as questionable with right knee soreness. However, on Wednesday night, Memphis officially listed Morant as out against the Clippers.

“Status Update: Ja Morant and Vince Williams Jr. are out tonight against the Clippers,” Grizzlies PR wrote on X.

Along with Morant, Vince Williams Jr. has also been ruled out with knee soreness after being questionable coming into the day. Marvin Bagley III (ankle distal syndesmosis sprain), Johnny Davis (not with team) and Cam Spencer (thumb surgery) have also been ruled out.

Although Memphis has proven to be one of the better teams in the NBA, Morant has had a down season statistically. Through 32 games played, he is averaging 20.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.4 assists, on track for his worst year since 2020-2
