The Texas Rangers organization asked Arlington ISD band students to perform during the festivities, according to a new release from the district.
A win for the Texas Rangers is a win for North Texas as a whole, but their World Series victory is a big win for students and staff at multiple local school districts.
The Arlington, Mansfield, Everman, Grand Prairie, Irving, Crowley, and Kennedale school districts all announced that they will be closed on Friday so everyone can celebrate the Rangers’ World Series victory. Offices will be closed and all classes will be canceled.
All sporting events for Friday will continue as scheduled, according to Arlington and Mansfield. Full details weren’t yet available for the other four districts, but they confirmed school is canceled Friday. Irving officials said April 1 would serve as a makeup day for students.
Everman’s statement cited “staffing shortages throughout the district,” then said, “Congratulations Texas Rangers!!!!”
“This is the first championship win for the Rangers in their history,” said Dr. Steven Wurtz, interim superintendent of Arlington ISD. “It’s a huge day for sports fans, and we’re excited to celebrate with the team and the community.”

Wurtz also mentioned that traffic issues are expected during the Rangers celebrations, which would make commutes to and from school difficult.

In a postgame interview with WFAA, Arlington mayor Jim Ross confirmed that a parade for the Rangers will be held in the city on Friday. A statement from the Rangers says the parade is expected to begin at 12:15 p.m., followed by a public ceremony outside of Globe Life Field.
According to Arlington ISD, the district’s marching band were asked to perform during the Rangers’ festivities. Band students from all six traditional high schools will come together as one band for Friday.
