Despite embarking on a new journey with Alpine in the World Endurance Championship, Schumacher’s hunger for Formula 1 success burns brightly.
Having spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons with Haas, Schumacher faced the disappointment of being dropped in favour of Nico Hulkenberg. However, this setback did not deter him. Embracing a test and reserve driver role with Mercedes, Schumacher continued to hone his skills and demonstrate his resilience in the face of adversity.
Now, poised to compete in the World Endurance Championship with Alpine’s Hypercar program, Schumacher remains open to the possibility of a return to Formula 1. In an interview with BILD, he asserted, “I’m very open to everything. I know I have the skills for it. I’m good enough.”
Schumacher’s confidence stems from his impressive track record in junior series, including Formula 4, Formula 3, and Formula 2, where he clinched victories and championships. Reflecting on his capabilities, he emphasized, “I proved that in addition to driving, I can also handle pressure. And Formula 1 is not that different.”

Addressing the competition for a coveted race seat, Schumacher acknowledged the absence of emerging talent but underscored his commitment to earning his place through hard work and performance. “I don’t get anything for free – I’m the one who has to deliver,” he affirmed.
As Formula 1 enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the start of the new season, Schumacher’s determination to reclaim his spot on the grid adds an intriguing narrative to the sport. With pre-season testing set to commence at the Bahrain International Circuit, all eyes will be on the teams and drivers as they prepare to showcase their potential on February 23-25.
