Ja Morant speaks before his return from a 25-game ban as he gives withdrawal from memphis grizzles

he Memphis Grizzlies are having one of the most dismal season performances from any NBA team right now. Alongside the Detroit Pistons, they are 6-17 in total and Morant is just about to make his return to activity. On Friday, the Grizzlies still have to play against the Houston Rockets and they also play against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday. According to the 25-game suspension, Ja Morant is expected to make his return to activity on Tuesday, December 19 against the New Orleans Pelicans. As part of the procedures, the Grizzlies leadership have finally allowed Ja Morant to speak to the media about this suspension period and how he’s gone through it.

During an exchange with members of the press, Ja Morant explained how he’s dealt with the ansence and the team’s poor results this season. Given that the entire season still has a little more than 60 games left, Morant remains hopeful he can help the Grizzlies turn things around. Here is what he told the press on Friday. “I’ve been counting down the days. I wake up every day and think, ‘Yeah, one day closer’. I take full responsibility for that, even though I’m not out on the floor. Decisions I made didn’t allow me to be out there to go to battle with my team. Playoffs and Play-In is a while from now.”

Ja Morant continued talking about the fans: “I’m just as excited to see them (the fans) when that time comes. I’ve made a lot of mistakes. Some that have not even been public with my family…it’s a lot. The decisions I’ve made didn’t allow me to be out there and go to battle with my teammates. I don’t think it’ll be long before we find it. I feel like we’ve been taking strides. It was definitely tough. Horrible days… [but] with the support I had throughout this process, it definitely helped me a lot. It’s still a process. I’m not done learning myself, but I definitely understand why the things that happened, happened. But I can’t say I sit up here and regret it because, in the end, it made me better. I’ve made a lot of my mistakes. Even with my family. Not some that have even been public. Even with my family. I’ve done a lot.”
