Ja Morant targeted in high-profile burglary: Over $1 million stolen

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant’s home was burglarized, with over $1 million worth of items stolen. The theft is linked to a larger ring targeting elite athletes.

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has become a victim of a high-profile burglary in December, with about more than $1 million worth of items stolen from his home. Morant was one of several elite athletes targeted by the same theft ring, which also hit Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Joe Burrow, and more.

The local reports cite that the 25-year-old guard was referred to as “Professional Athlete 6” in a federal complaint unsealed earlier this week. The theft took place while Morant was playing against the Golden State Warriors at the FedExForum. That night, he scored nine points as the Grizzlies attained a dominant 144-93 victory over the Dubs.

Morant started the third quarter going 0-for-4 and committed two turnovers. He finished the period with three points and one assist. The Memphis Grizzlies again lost the period 30-27 to trail 83-80 entering the final frame.

Ja Morant did not start the fourth quarter. He came in with 8:34 remaining for GG Jackson. G12 had 10 points in the decisive period, including a layup that tied the game at 104 apiece with 1:50 to go.

Ja Morant helps the Memphis Grizzlies to a win despite another inefficient and turnover-prone night

Ja Morant had 12 points, six assists and five turnovers against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday. He went 4-for-15, including 0-for-3 from deep in the Memphis Grizzlies’ loss.

Morant fared a little better on Friday, but the Grizzlies earned a different outcome. They eked out a 105-104 win despite another inefficient and turnover-prone night from their superstar. G12 went 10-for-24, including 1-for-7 from behind the arc. He also committed seven turnovers to his five assists. Still, he finished with a plus/minus +1 rating, the only positive rating among the starters.

The Grizzlies will cap off their five-game road trip on Sunday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. A win by Ja Morant and Co. will improve their road swing record to 3-
