Khan urges Fury to honour Anthony Joshua with All-British showdown

Former world champion Amir Khan has urged Tyson Fury to give Anthony Joshuathe respect he deserves by finally agreeing to a long-anticipated heavyweight clash between the two British boxing icons.

Despite Fury announcing his retirement in January following back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, Khan believes the British public is owed the fight that has eluded them for years.

If you think about it, how did Tyson Fury become a huge name in boxing? It’s because he was always linked with Joshua. He has to give him that respect. Joshua, being a massive superstar, helped Fury become the name he is, especially in the UK market.”

Fury has retired multiple times throughout his career, stepping away from the sport in 2017 during a dispute with UK Anti-Doping before returning in 2018. He also announced his retirement after defeating Dillian Whyte in 2022, but made a swift comeback later that year.

Joshua, also a two-time heavyweight world champion, has not fought since his surprising defeat to IBF titleholder Daniel Dubois last September. Talks of a mega-fight between the pair have persisted for years but have continually broken down during negotiations.
