Kim Kardashian made her return to the Met steps! For the 2024 Met Gala—the reality star and entrepreneur’s 11th year attending—she donned a custom look from Maison Margiela.
Kardashian recently attended John Galliano’s Margiela Artisanal show, sitting front row alongside her mother, Kris Jenner, and sister Kylie Jenner. (She even added a pair of the brand’s signature—and polarizing—cleft-toe Tabi shoes to her ensemble.)
John Galliano, creative director of Maison Margiela, fashioned Kardashian an armor-esque bustier top with floral motifs imprinted on the bodice. Kardashian added a silver floral chain-mail dress, worn folded over like a skirt, and a custom Margiela thong that matches the bodice. Over the metallic outfit, she wore a gray bolero cardigan. With the cinched waist and shrug, Kardashian’s Met look harks back to the spring 2024 couture show that set the internet ablaze.

The Skims founder regularly makes a splash with her Met Gala looks. Last year, she strung herself in thousands of pearls by Schiaparelli. For 2019’s “Notes on Camp,” she pushed herself to the extreme in a Thierry Mugler wet dress dripping with crystals, which contorted her body into an exaggerated silhouette. But perhaps her most controversial look to date came when she wore Marilyn Monroe’s “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” dress in 2022. The look, which sparked a larger conversation about how we should wear historical garments, echoes throughout the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibition.
