Despite trying his best to salvage points with his third-place finish at Charlotte Roval, Kyle Busch was unable to get into the round of eight. Even though he isn’t competing for the championship any longer, his recent performance at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway painted a different picture.
Following the race, the RCR driver spoke with the media and revealed his urge to continue pushing forward in order to understand their deficiencies in terms of overall pace and performance.
Busch achieved back-to-back top-three finishes in the past two races. However, despite this being a proud moment there were a lot of things that he wanted to figure out to get back in the competition regardless of his eliminated status.
While speaking with the press on pit road, Busch mentioned, “I mean, we’re busting our tails man. We’re trying like hell to find all the answers and make sure we do all the right things. And you know, I think this was a good weekend of that.”
Throughout the race, Busch kept jostling for positions against other drivers who were in playoff contention. In the end, his efforts did pay off after he finished behind Christopher Bell and Kyle Larson in 3rd place. Although, the points don’t really matter for him at this stage, pushing the limits of the car can help them understand the problematic areas with the car and how to address them for the next season.

During the same interview, he also commented on his performance throughout the day, which included his race finish and the problems he faced with restarts. He stated, “Good day for us for sure. You know back to back top threes is definitely something to be proud of. Hey, we’re a little late to the party. But you know we’ve been working hard all year long and today this weekend was a really good weekend for us. We unloaded strong, qualified strong ran top 10 all day.”
“So just trouble on restarts just cannot keep my track position all day. I felt like every restart I’d go back two or three and then by the time the end of the run came I was back to those spots again. But that’s not net forward that’s not zero. So with as is even as everything is it’s just tough to tough to, you know, win a race not going forward all the time.”
