Rajah Caruth, a rising star in the world of NASCAR, made history by becoming only the third black driver to win a national NASCAR race. This remarkable achievement comes after Rick Hendrick, a highly accomplished team owner in NASCAR history, awarded Caruth a development contract with HMS in 2024. Caruth, who began his racing career in iRacing, proved his worth by winning the Las Vegas truck race in only his third race as an HMS-supported driver.
Racing for Spire Motorsports, Caruth had a busy day on the track. Starting the race in the pole position, for the first time in NASCAR, he battled experienced veterans throughout the race and emerged victorious. Caruth’s exceptional racing ability, the speed of his Chevy machine, and the strategic decisions made by his team contributed to his historic win.
The NASCAR community was quick to celebrate Caruth’s historic victory. Dale Earnhardt Jr., a NASCAR Hall of Fame member, congratulated Caruth and expressed his admiration for the young driver. This win marks the first victory by a black driver since Bubba Wallace’s triumph in Michigan in 2017.

Kyle Larson, the 2021 NASCAR Cup champion and Caruth’s teammate at Hendrick Motorsports, also shared his excitement on social media. He praised Caruth’s well-deserved victory and expressed his hopes for a double win in the next race.
Another notable figure in the racing world, Daniel Hemric, a former Xfinity champion, celebrated Caruth’s win and acknowledged the young driver’s hard work and dedication in his career. Hemric and Caruth are teammates, both driving for Chevy teams, and their shared training experiences played a significant role in Caruth’s development as a driver.
Rajah Caruth’s historic victory is a testament to his talent, determination, and the support he has received from his team and fellow drivers. His win serves as inspiration for aspiring drivers and highlights the progress being made in terms of diversity and inclusion in NASCAR.
