Kyle Larson Builds A Legacy Of Leadership And Versatility as he..

Kyle Larson is determined to make history this May. Last year’s attempt at motor sport’s version of “The Double” didn’t go as planned, and he is ready to run 1,100 miles on May 25 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

There is so much hype around Larson’s second attempt to compete in the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 that Amazon Prime Video – in addition to sponsoring both efforts – is making a documentary. The crew began filming Larson ahead of last year’s bid of the Indy 500.

It’s been great getting it all out there and it’s really cool to have Prime on board, along with HendrickCars.com,” Larson said. “The racecars look really cool. It’s crazy that it’s already here. I’m looking forward to living through the experience again.

I don’t think there’s much to do differently than we did last year. I feel like on all fronts we prepared really well. I felt like I was prepared for the race and we executed everything pretty decently. The only thing I would change is during the days of practice, maybe looking for a little different balance in traffic to benefit myself more during the race. Everything went smoothly besides the weather on Sunday.”

Larson will once again pilot an Indy car prepared by Arrow McLaren Racing in a partnership with Hendrick Motorsports. Last year, in his Indianapolis 500 debut, he finished 18th after starting fifth and was in contention to take the lead at one point. A late pit-road speeding penalty dropped him in the running order.

Now, the 2021 Nascar Cup Series champion believes it is his time to shine.

“It gives you a lot of confidence if things go smoothly, but that’s never guaranteed,” Larson said of competing with a top-tier team in the prestigious race. “I’m joining a great team in Arrow McLaren with great teammates, as well, to rely on. I’m looking forward to the experience and trying to better myself as a racecar driver. Hopefully, I’ll have two successful races.”

Larson has grown tremendously on and off the track since joining Hendrick Motorsports in 2021. In addition to the Cup title, he’s won 24 races – the most of any driver at the Cup Series level – in less than five years.

Off the track, he’s become a businessman as the co-owner of High Limit Racing Sprint Car Series. As a world-renowned dirt racer, he’s now responsible for the series’ exponential growth as it’s now one of FloSports’ most watched series.

I’ve done this for my whole career,” Larson said of competing in different divisions. “From even when I was young racing go karts, I would race three different types of engines (classes) in a night. As I moved up, I was still racing pavement, dirt, sprint cars, silver crown cars, wing, non-wing all different days of the week. Developing the ability to adapt quickly has allowed me to carry that on throughout my career.”

Larson, still a babyface, is now the senior face of Hendrick Motorsports at 32 years old, despite being with the team for the shortest period of time. He won his first race of 2025 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, riding the high line he’s learned thanks to his dirt racing. Now, he’s prepared to fight for another championship.
