It’s been almost two weeks since the chequered flag was waved at Phoenix to cap off the 2023 Cup Series season. With the off-season and festivities ticking off the calendars, the NASCAR drivers seem to have soaked themselves in revelry. As a result, motorsports enthusiasts are left starving to watch their favorite drivers dominating the tracks. However, not every driver has followed the same suit, which is apparent from Hendrick Motorsports’ speedster Kyle Larson and his schedule.

While a majority of the drivers seem to share quality time with their near and dear ones after a grueling season, Kyle Larson was ready to chisel his racing skills. And the results were worthy of applause.

Kyle Larson basks in the off-season by adding another feather

After braving the 36 races in the season, the Cup Series drivers have apparently pulled their brakes and are ready to shift their gaze away from the race track. Moreover, as F1 hits the streets of Sin City, many drivers along with their families can be seen shaking hands with their European counterparts.

However, one of the drivers who can be termed as an exception is the 2021 Cup Series champion Kyle Larson. The driver instead returned to where he began his racing career, the USAC series. The #5 Chevrolet driver earned his victory after snatching the lead just six laps into the Hangtown 100 race.

Moreover, it has been almost two years and the longest, since Larson marked a victory in a midget series. The driver had notched his last midget series victory back in 2021 after clinching the Cup Series victory. After adding his 26th Midget Series victory, a jubilant Larson expressed to the media, “It was fun to go 30 laps non-stop. That was pretty intense from my seat. Traffic was crazy and I was watching the board and trying to peek back when I could. I felt like I was putting together good laps. You just don’t know for sure when you get stuck like that.”

Larson who had started the race from the sixth position, migrated through heavy traffic. He then outlasted the pole sitter and points leader of the series, Logan Seavey. The 2x Chili Bowl winner after snatching the lead, did not glance back and raced from green to the chequered. Owing to this, the driver expressed in his post-race, “I knew my car was going to be good and I felt really good in the heat race too.

“I just needed to clean some things up. The track was in-between, and we didn’t know what it was going to do with all the rain coming and going and tilling it and all that. When they reworked it before the semi, I could tell that the bottom wasn’t quite that good early, so I was just going to commit to the top and try and get some momentum built. The car just got through the holes well compared to everybody else. That allowed me to move around.”
