Since the start of the Next-Gen era Martin Truex Jr. has been teasing fans with a potential retirement from the sport. The 2017 Cup champion was initially set to retire in 2022, before JGR convinced him to extend his stay for one more season. In 2023, following a strong season that saw win three races, he extended deal once again and it now coming to an end.

With the 2024 season approaching the mid-season break and the silly season starting early with Michael McDowell’s Spire Motorsports move and Ricky Stenhouse Jr .’s contract extension with JTDG Racing. Now the Joe Gibbs Racing driver has addressed the uncertainty over his future and his plans for the future.

Martin Truex Jr. told Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass that he hasn’t talked to anyone at all about his future yet and claimed that he has been only thinking about racing so far. He admitted that as season it getting to a crucial point and he needs think a little about his future in the premier stock car racing championship with the TRD giants.

Not sure I haven’t really talked to anyone about it all yet. I’ve just been kind of focused on the racing part and not really thinking about that. As every year it happens, it sneaks up on ya. So, I guess it will be time to start putting a little thought into it. Martin Truex Jr. told Bob Pockrass.

Rumors suggests Martin Truex Jr. might retire to make way for Ryan Truex
As the future Hall of Famer is nearing the end of his career, his brother Ryan Truex is still looking for the big break for his career. Despite multiple solid runs in his part-time runs with JGR in the Xfinity Series, including wins at Richmond in 2023 and 2024, he isn’t getting a full-time seat he deserves.

According to the rumors, there are talks going on about the No:19 driver potentially retiring to make way for his brothers’ full-time entry to NASCAR. It would most probably be a Xfinity Seat, if JGR decides to give current second tier driver a premotion.

Nothing so far hasn’t been officially announced or confirmed about the future of Martin Truex Jr. and just like they have been in the last two season, the fans are eagerly waiting for an announcement. If the legendary driver decides to retire, it would be good to see him helping Ryan Truex a seat as the rumours suggests.
