Max Verstappen has sent a message to the rest of the F1 grid that he’s prepared to fight to keep Red Bull on top despite the views of team principal Christian Horner. The Dutchman is 84 points clear of Lando Norris at the top of the standings, and has seven Grand Prix wins to his name this season.
However, the dominance that has signified both driver and team since the new regulations were introduced in 2022 is undoubtedly being challenged.
McLaren, and Norris in particular, have notably challenged Red Bull for pace in recent weeks, with Ferrari and now Mercedes also appearing to have bridged the gap.
Indeed, last weekend at Silverstone it was Lewis Hamilton who prevailed for the first time since the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix in December 2021. And prior to the British race, Horner had admitted he felt rivals were restoring parity this year.
