The German racer had his first taste of the Hypercar category in an Alpine LMDh vehicle at Spain’s Jerez circuit. Reflecting on this new venture, Schumacher shared his initial reactions to the media, highlighting the distinct and heavier feel of the car compared to his previous experiences.

Schumacher also clarified that his test drive was not the sole factor in his decision to join WEC. He had already been considering a switch, attracted by the increasing involvement of various manufacturers in the series.

“It was obviously very different, but I wouldn’t necessarily say it was the deciding factor. I was already at that point that I wanted to commit to this if I didn’t get any chance in Formula 1.

“Just because as I said, you have so many manufacturers jumping into that right now.”
