It’s always a heartbreaking scenario to see a driver lose their seat in F1 despite putting in the best efforts and because of circumstances. That was the case with Mick Schumacher who lost his Haas seat despite picking up his level of performances just for instant results. However, this undesirable scenario did not affect others’ level of confidence in the young German. Alpine VP Bruno Famin proved that recently
The German has signed with Alpine to drive for their World Endurance Championship (WEC) team. Schumacher will maintain his Mercedes reserve driver duties while testing his racing mettle, which he is supremely confident about in the world of endurance racing. However, the German has no experience in the series. Will that hamper his performance? Famin echoed Toto Wolff‘s comments when he expressed his disagreement with the suggestion.

“But having Mick bringing his experience to a very high level. He is still a Mercedes reserve driver and he has a very long and a good experience of what is a top-level Formula One team. He has two full seasons with Haas and he will bring us some ideas and methodologies to help put the bar higher for sure – which is what we want. I think he’s a very, very clever guy, a very well-educated guy. And I have absolutely no doubt about his capacity to share the car with his teammates,” said Famin while speaking to Daily Sports Car.
The Austrian boss was the one to give the young German a lifeline after his Haas ousting. This reserve role at Mercedes is a menial task, as working with a top F1 team like the Brackley outfit would’ve helped him gain a lot of crucial F1 experience. Banking on that, he got the opportunity to drive for Alpine’s WEC team. Speaking about his chances, the boss was extremely confident.
