Tigers coach Ryan Silverfield praises Grizzlies star: “Ja could be doing anything else and he wants to come support.”
With less than a month left before training camp for the 2024-25 season commences, Memphis Grizzlies players are making the most out of what’s left in the offseason.
For Ja Morant, that means football, and to be more precise Memphis football.
After a summer filled with soul-searching and rigorous workouts to catapult himself back to relevance, the Grizzlies star took a break to make an appearance at the home game of the Memphis Tigers football team.
Morant got a lot of love in the jam-packed Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium on Saturday as the Tigers ripped Troy, 38-17, in a wire-to-wire fashion. The Grizzlies guard showed up alongside his father, Tee.

The two Morants remained in the endzone for most of the game. At one point, the stadium’s announcer identified the Grizzlies superstar and let the crowd know about his presence – as Ja was chatting with Memphis athletic director Ed Scott.
“Ja could be doing anything else”
Morant was all in on the game, fired up about Memphis’ demolition of Troy. The Grizzlies All-Star was ideally located to celebrate with the Tigers after Mario Anderson scored his second rushing touchdown.
After the successful play, Memphis offensive linemen Jonah Gambill and Trent Holler came over to pay respects to Ja and receive his support.
