Novak Djokovic can now grant Roger Federer his wish of seeing the Serbian superstar team up with Carlos Alcraz at the Laver Cup. It was announced on Wednesday that the World No 2 will make his debut in the competition at next year’s event, being held at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin
Djokovic is yet to be confirmed for the September 2024 line-up but could make his return to the big six for the first time in two years as Team Europe look to reclaim the Laver Cup title. When asked who he would like to see on Team Europe next year, Federer listed several big names, including the top two players in the world right now.
“I would like to see Novak again, Alcaraz and Novak on the same team. Sascha Zverev would be great for the German market. Someone like [Holger] Rune, that really hurt Team Europe.
“Rune and [Stefanos] Tsitsipas pulling out. [Daniil] Medvedev would be great. I like watching [Andrey] Rublev, and maybe someone will come through.”

Alcaraz is the first player to be named on Captain Bjorn Borg’s Team Europe. “I am super excited to have Carlos join Team Europe in Berlin,” said Borg. “I’m leaving no stone unturned for 2024. The goal is to win and having Carlos commit to Team Europe’s cause is a thrilling start to what I anticipate will be an exceptional roster.”
Alcaraz is equally excited to get going. “I appreciate Captain Borg’s confidence in me, and I look forward to teaming up with my rivals in both singles and doubles in Berlin,” he said. “It means a lot to represent Team Europe at Laver Cup, this is a great honour
