Novak Djokovic had admitted that he can’t explain why he is defying his wife’s feelings by competing at Wimbledon – despite his very recent return from injury. Djokovic was forced to forfeit a quarter-final at the French Open recently due to a torn meniscus in his knee that required surgery.
Djokovic’s wife, Jelena, questioned why her husband would risk further injury at Wimbledon when he has won the tournament on seven occasions.
Fans may also be questioning why he is not focusing on his preparation for the Olympics, as this is the one honour that has eluded the elite tennis player his entire career. Djokovic has explained before how motivated he is for the Games.

When asked why he’d ‘defy’ his wife and compete at Wimbledon, Djokovic told FOX News that missing out on the tournament was “just not correct” and he didn’t want to miss out when he can still perform.
The tennis star said: “My wife also kind of asked the same question, right? Which is normal. (You are) 37-years-old, you want to maybe have less risk and prepare yourself for the Olympic Games?
“So from that perspective, I don’t have an answer to that, but I do have something that is described as a feeling of not missing out at a grand slam while I can still play and while I’m still active and at this level.”
