Novak Djokovic shares glimpse of intense training session as he gears

Novak Djokovic has given fans a glimpse of his practice session ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 37-year-old will be representing his country, Serbia, alongside world No. 55, Dusan Lajovic, as announced earlier in June by the Serbian Tennis Federation.
With the opening ceremony of the Olympics coming up on Friday, July 26, thousands of athletes and fans from around the world are flocking to Paris.On Sunday, the 24-time Grand Slam champion shared a couple of pictures and videos on his Instagram feed from his practice session on the clay courts of Roland Garros.In one of the pictures, he sat on a bench, kitted up and resting with a wet towel on his head. In the second picture, he was working out in the gym. The video also featured the Serb doing intense sprinting drills. He captioned the post:
“Getting ready for Olympics. Who’s with me?”

The former World No. 1 is heading into the Paris Olympics just a few weeks after reaching the 10th Wimbledon final of his career, where he was defeated by Carlos Alcaraz.The Serb had earlier sustained a knee injury that required surgery at the French Open in June but has since raced back to fitness. However, he has been using a brace on his right knee while playing.

Djokovic first represented Serbia at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where he defeated Robert Ginepri, Rainer Schüttler, and Mikhail Youzhny in the opening rounds. In the quarterfinal, he knocked out Gael Monfils to set up a semifinal clash with Rafael Nadal, but he lost to the Spaniard. However, in the bronze medal match, Djokovic defeated James Blake to take home the medal.The former World No. 1 represented Serbia in the 2012 London Olympics, defeating Italy’s Fabio Fognini in the first round. He went on to defeat Andy Roddick and Lleyton Hewitt in the second and third rounds, respectively. Djokovic won against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarterfinal but lost to Andy Murray in the semifinal. He couldn’t secure the bronze medal after suffering defeat at the hands of Juan Martín del Potro.
Djokovic’s participation at the 2016 Rio Olympics was one to forget, as he was eliminated in the first round by eventual silver medalist Juan Martín del Potro of Argentina.At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the 37-year-old finished in fourth place for the second time. En route to the bronze medal match, he beat the likes of Hugo Dellien, Jan-Lennard Struff, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and Kei Nishikori before losing to Alexander Zverev in the semifinal and Pablo Carreño Busta in the bronze medal match.
