Novak Djokovic states what he can ‘proudly say’ he did to Rafael Nadal which made him….

Novak Djokovic has suffered a disappointing start to his clay season, which is the first without Rafael Nadal since 2002.

Carlos Alcaraz can fly on clay in the absence of Nadal, with the former already proving his worth by winning the Monte Carlo Masters.

Djokovic lost his opener to Alejandro Tabilo, having been the third seed at the ATP Masters 1000 event earlier this month.

He fell to the Chilean 6-3, 6-4, with the 24-time Grand Slam champion now continuing his search for a 100th ATP title elsewhere.

Nadal meanwhile won the tournament a stunning 11 times, more than any other player, which includes an Open Era record eight successive wins.
