Rafael Nadal Takes the Cake Over ‘Young Kid’ Carlos Alcaraz after a controversial..

In recent years, Carlos Alcaraz has taken the tennis world by storm. Hailing from Spain, the 20-year-old player has gone ahead to become one of the best players at the moment while stepping rightfully into the shoes of another Spanish great, Rafael Nadal. However, this has often led to comparisons between the two with different stars offering a whole new perspective on the debate.

Recently, Gilles Muller, a former ATP star, in an exclusive interview, went ahead and gave his opinion on the Nadal-Alcaraz debate while offering an answer. While claiming Alcaraz to be better in many things, there were some things where the 20-year-old clearly lacks and Muller reflected on that while announcing his winner.

In an exclusive interview, Gilles Muller shared his perspective on the rising star Carlos Alcaraz while comparing him to Rafael Nadal. Muller appreciated Alcaraz’s strengths while suggesting that the youngster has enough tennis tools at this age than Rafael Nadal had back then.

He went ahead to suggest that Nadal had a baseline gameplay. However, with time, he improved a lot and was able to hit volleys and his serves became more fierce. This change made him a strong force in the game. However, Muller thinks that Alcaraz has all of these things already in him. But, there is one thing that Alcaraz lacks, according to Muller. That is the ability to use discipline at the right moment.

“He has everything. But maybe he needs to find the discipline to use the right things at the right moments. Sometimes I feel like he’s making choices like a young kid on a tennis court. He’s still a young kid. Maybe he needs to mature a little bit to know exactly what weapon to use at what moment. And I think there Rafa was better because he had less weapons at the beginning of his career,” said Muller while settling the debate once and for all.

Muller then went ahead to end the debate by suggesting that Rafael Nadal was a clear winner for him because he did not have access to all the tennis weapons that Carlos Alcaraz has today. Despite the less availability, he went ahead and became the best player in the world.

Former world number 6 player defends Alcaraz to be a better player than Rafa

Comparing both players’ gameplay when they were 19, former world number 6 suggested that Carlos Alcaraz is way ahead of his compatriot. He suggested that Alcaraz is a bit more aggressive from the baseline and has a better serve as compared to Rafa. Lapentti also went ahead to mention that Rafa was very bad with his transition.

However, the Spaniard went ahead and improved his game a lot by bringing in a lot of transitions to the game. He added by mentioning that both the players are equally good and even suggested that they have similar movements. However, when it comes to the net, Alcaraz again takes the lead.
