Red Bull star given advice on future by Damon Hill as Max Verstappen situation is getting out of…..

Former world champion Damon Hill has urged Red Bull driver Yuki Tsunoda to look elsewhere after Max Verstappen cemented his position for next year

Verstappen’s future has been a hot topic in the Formula 1 community following the Christian Horner investigation and rumours of a potential switch to Mercedes. Mercedes-Benz chairman Ola Kallenius hinted at a possible move for Verstappen in June, telling Sky Germany that Verstappen “would look good in silver”.

Meanwhile, Toto Wolff has consistently admitted he likes the idea of recruiting Verstappen as he searches for a successor to Lewis Hamilton, who is set to join Ferrari next year. However, when quizzed ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, Verstappen said: “I think I’ve said this before. Naturally, of course, people are talking but it’s most important just that we just have a very competitive car for the future.

“Currently, things are very close but we’re working well as a team to try and gain an edge. I’ve already told the team that our focus should also be on ensuring we remain competitive next

year.”

Before Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez’s contract extension was made public, there were numerous drivers eyeing up the second seat at Red Bull, including Tsunoda. But now both Red Bull and Horner have reiterated their support for Perez, despite his disappointing performance in recent races which has seen him miss out on a podium finish since April.

Former world champion Damon Hill appeared on the F1 Nation podcast and has suggested that Tsunoda should consider a move to another team to gain the recognition he deserves. The racing veteran said: “If I was him, I’d be on the phone to Aston Martin now, because he’s Japanese and they got, they’ve got Honda engines coming.”

Journalist and F1 Nation host Tom Clarkson also touched upon how Tsunoda fails to receive the “credibility” from Red Bull he merits, given his pace and youth. Responding to this, Hill said: “I mean he’s right in saying that, I can’t understand it, it doesn’t make any sense.

“When you see pictures of Max leaving the circuit in the helicopter with Daniel Ricciardo and they’re all smiles, you kind of get the feeling that Danny Ricc and Max would be quite happy with Danny Ricc as a teammate and so if his power is such in that team that he can almost influence that decision then I do think the pressure is on to get Danny in there.”
