Ross Chastain showed true colors after Chase Briscoe discarded him in…

In the process of winning the Cook Out Southern 500, Briscoe forced Chastain, Kyle Busch, Bubba Wallace and Chris Buescher out of the playoff picture, with room for only two drivers without a victory this campaign to make the cut.

The quartet of disappointed playoff hopefuls will have to compete in the final 10 races of the season with only pride on the line, and Chastain wanted to soak in the disappointment to motivate himself to make sure it never happens again

Chastain finished 19th in the regular season standings after a fifth-place finish at Darlington, missing out on a playoff spot due to a lack of a victory over the 26 races. He had five top-fives, and he says he do everything he can in the final 10 races to prove his quality.

The whole season’s been frustrating,” Busch said. “Every week, it just kind of seems like, ‘OK what’s next?’ But that’s something that we can’t change.

“Chris Buescher just said it, there’s a lot of things and a lot of questions that we have for ourselves and answers that we might not be able to answer exactly right now as to how our year has gone, but that’s in the past, and you know you can use that as a distraction or a motivation tool, and we’ll look to try to make that as a motivation tool.”
