That has never changed”: Chase Elliott rules out selfish tactics against Kyle Larson in

Chase Elliott recently answered a question regarding his battle with Kyle Larson for the regular season championship. Elliott is currently sitting in the second spot on the standings behind his teammate Larson, who is 10 points ahead of NASCAR’s most popular driver.
With only four races remaining in the season, Elliott was asked whether he is feeling the heat of competition with Larson for the regular season championship. The reporter wondered if the #9 team was witholding information from the #5 team considering they’re competing for the championship.

“No, we have a system. Truthfully, we do. And we do that system every week. That has never changed. Kyle and I raced for a couple of championships against each other, if I’m not mistaken, ’21 and ’22. We’ve kind of been in that position. It’s not really changed,” Elliott replied. [2:20]

claimed that it was frustrating for him. But at the same time, he mentioned that there were six races left in the regular season at that point, and all they have to do is get their consistency back to earn the 15 bonus points. At the time of Larson making these comments, he was hoping for a good result at Pocono. But that didn’t turn out to be the case as he finished in 13th place. However, Larson bounced back in the race before the Olympics break as he won the Brickyard 400.

But the situation is a little different in the case of his teammate Chase Elliott, who, while he hasn’t won since Texas in April, has had more consistent runs.Elliott followed up a top-5 finish at Sonoma with a third-place finish at Iowa, after which he finished inside the top 20 for two weeks in a row. At Chicago, the #9 driver finished outside the top 20, but in the following two races, he found his groove again and finished inside the top 10 again.Heading into this Sunday’s race at Richmond, Chase Elliott will have an advantage as he’ll start from fourth place while the regular season championship leader Kyle Larson will start from the 15th spot.
