As Chase Elliott and Kevin Harvick settled into the Pensacola track, a chance encounter turned into a playful exchange. Elliott, a native of Dawsonville, couldn’t help but nudge at the retired driver as he jokingly questioned what a big-time NASCAR driver like Harvick was doing competing in a series like the ASA Southern Super Series.

Chase Elliott shared his interaction with Kevin Harvick while settling into the speedway. He talks about giving Harvick a confused look and a playful, “What are you doing here? This isn’t your cup of tea!” While it may have been a lighthearted comment, some may even say that Elliott was taking a jab at Harvick’s skills compared to his own!
But the veteran SHR driver has an impressive 60 NASCAR Cup Series victories under his belt and has been a fixture in the sport for over two decades! An impressive number that even Elliott had to stop for a moment and pay respect to the dedication that the veteran has shown NASCAR regardless of its ups and downs! Despite retiring from full-time racing in 2023, the 2014 Cup Series champion has amazingly remained active in the racing community, joining the FOX Sports team as an analyst alongside the likes of Clint Bowyer.
Elliott expressed his admiration for Harvick’s resilience and dedication. “The guy’s been grinding it out for 20 years, and that’s no small feat,” Elliott said. “We’re lucky to do what we do, but there are definitely days when it’s tough. Harvick’s toughed it out for a long time, and I’ve got mad respect for that.”
As the race gets closer, fans should keep an eye on Elliott and Harvick as they battle it out in their Chevrolet racing machines. Currently tied with Kyle Larson at 620 points in the Cup Series standings, Chase Elliott has already secured one victory, seven top-five finishes, and nine top-10s this season. He’s also led a combined 178 laps, proving his skills on the track are undefeatable.
