British heavyweight stars Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have never particularly seen eye to eye.
Both are towing figures in world boxing, and both were long-reining champions at the same time.
However, as of yet, they have never managed to share the ring together. Part of the problem is that Oleksandr Usyk has beaten both men, twice, to relieve them of their belts.
After his second loss to the Ukrainian in December 2024, Fury announced that he was retiring from the sport. Joshua meanwhile decided to rebuild with four wins including knockouts of Otto Wallin, Francis Ngannou and Robert Helenius in 2023 and 2024.
His attempt to become a three-time world champion in September last year ended in disaster when he was down in the first round and then stopped inside five by IBF ruler Daniel Dubois.
Speaking to The Stomping Ground, ‘The Gypsy King’ was asked whether Joshua could ever beat Dubois and believes ‘DDD’ will always come out on top.
No, I don’t think he can [beat him]. I don’t even think he’ll take a rematch.”
Right now the rematch seems a long way off. More pressing matters for Dubois include honouring the fight he had to withdraw from with Joseph Parker, going after Oleksandr Usyk for undisputed honours or facing his mandatory challenger Derek Chisora.
Joshua has not fought since his loss to Dubois and is being linked with a possible fight with Parker, who he beat back in 2016 to unify the division, though most fans would rather see him take on Fury were he to come out of retirement
