Valentino Rossi reflects on Pedro Acosta’s rookie MotoGP season

Valentino Rossi recently analyzed Pedro Acosta’s first MotoGP season, highlighting the highs and challenges the rookie has faced.

Acosta made a remarkable debut with two podiums in his first three grands prix, but mid-season struggles emerged as KTM’s performance dipped, leading to more frequent crashes.

A fall in Australia’s sprint race resulted in a shoulder injury, sidelining Acosta from the grand prix. “The KTM is clearly struggling this year,” Rossi told Sky Italia, noting it’s even more challenging for a rookie when experienced riders like Brad Binder are also facing issues.

“He came in strong, but then started crashing quite hard. MotoGP crashes hit harder, and injuries take a toll,” Rossi explained, adding, “But he’s still very talented. If KTM can close the gap with Ducati, he’ll be a front-runner.”

Acosta’s impressive start prompted KTM to fast-track him into their factory team for 2025, replacing Jack Miller. Though he hasn’t yet secured a grand prix win, Acosta has impressed, consistently ranking among the top non-Ducati riders alongside Binder this season.
